Special Church Services (Occasional & Annual Services)
From time to time we have special themed services in the afternoon or evening.
Recent services include the annual Remembrance Sunday Service, Bereavement Service, All Souls Day Service, Harvest Festival Service, Carol Service etc. We are hoping that these special services offer us times to be quiet, silent and commune in God’s loving presence and be touched by him and healed by him.
Ash Wednesday Service – This is a traditional service that includes the imposition of ashes (Ashing), special prayers and Holy Communion.
Taize Service – This is a service with chants, songs, readings and prayers as used at the Taize community in France. The community based in eastern France, is a monastic community with both Protestant and Catholic traditions.
Songs of Praise – This is a much-appreciated service including songs/hymns selected by people often giving stories as to why such a hymn is special for someone.
Harvest Service – This ancient and traditional service is so poignant as we bring the fruits of the earth and offer these to God at the altar. All things come from Him and we want to thank Him for His gifts!
Bereavement and All Souls Day Service – At this service the recently bereaved are invited along with those wishing to honour the souls departed. Special prayers are said. Candles are lit in honour of the loved ones who are no longer with us. A special service, deeply spiritual, reflective and spiritually poignant.
Remembrance Sunday Service – This is a national service remembering the sacrifice of millions who gave up their lives especially in the two Great Wars and also in other wars. We remember their sacrifice and honour their memory.
Carol Service – The traditional carol services are much loved and the carol singing under candle light is a memorable experience deeply cherished by all!
Nativity Service – It is heart-warming to watch children dressed up as shepherds, kings, angels, Joseph, Mary and so on recalling the wonderful story of God becoming one of us to save us!
