Come Holy Spirit!
Pentecost Prayer for personal renewal
Be with us, Spirit of God;
All Nothing can separate us from your love.
Breathe on us, breath of God;
All Fill us with your saving power.
Speak in us, wisdom of God;
All bring strength, healing, and peace.
Let us bless the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
All let us praise and bless God for ever.
Intercessions with hymns
A true and sincere conversion is the scriptural prerequisite to receiving the “Promise of the Father”, the Gift of the Holy Spirit for a personal Pentecost in your life. We sing the hymn ‘Holy Spirit, living Breath of God’ to affirm our desire to be right with God and to satisfy the deep hunger we have to know the Lord Jesus personally. (Pause)
Intercessory Hymn: Holy Spirit, living breath of God (Verse 1)
Holy Spirit, living Breath of God,
breathe new life into my willing soul.
Bring the presence of the risen Lord
to renew my heart and make me whole.
Cause your word to come alive in me;
give me faith for what I cannot see;
give me passion for your purity;
Holy Spirit, breathe new life in me.
You desire a fresh “release of the Holy Spirit”, a fresh “baptism in/with the Holy Spirit” at this particular time in your life. The Holy Spirit sees your sincere desire to be open to His working within you and through you! All He wants is your permission, your surrender to His purposes for you!
Intercessory Hymn: Holy Spirit, living breath of God (Verse 2)
Holy Spirit, come abide within,
may your joy be seen in all I do.
Love enough to cover every sin
in each thought and deed and attitude:
kindness to the greatest and the least,
gentleness that sows the path of peace.
Turn my strivings into works of grace;
Breath of God, show Christ in all I do.
If you sense a strong and sincere desire to receive all that the Holy Spirit has for you, and to be open to His working in and through your life, then you can ask the Holy Spirit now to empower you now as an individual Christian but also as a member of the community that we call the Church Family. (Pause)
“Father,
as your child in Jesus,
I desire to be an instrument
for Your Kingdom of Love
to manifest through my life.
I desire to receive
your Promise of the Holy Spirit
to those who believe.
Jesus Christ, my Saviour and King,
baptise me in the Holy Spirit
and transform me according to your will.
Holy Spirit,
empower me
and fill me to overflowing.
I hold nothing back from you.
Use me
so that the Father’s Kingdom
may be manifested
in and through my life.
I ask this in Jesus’ holy Name.
Amen.”
Intercessory Hymn: Holy Spirit, living breath of God (Verse 3)
Holy Spirit, from creation’s birth,
giving life to all that God has made,
show your power once again on earth,
cause your church to hunger for your ways.
May the fragrance of our prayers arise;
lead us on the road of sacrifice,
that in unity the face of Christ
may be clear for all the world to see.
Take time for silent prayer opening your heart to the Holy Spirit …. He will not disappoint you …. He will fill you with his joy, love and peace …. and inner power to face life’s daily challenges ….

Jesus is alive.
Love has won the victory over evil and death.
Jesus says (John 14:27) Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
Let us pray:
Father God, today we remember the descent of the Holy Spirit on your disciples and the beginning of your Church, the Kingdom of God. As you had promised us you sent us your Holy Spirit at Pentecost to fill our hearts with new life and hope. As we bring our prayers to you, we give thanks to you for your unconditional love for us and our salvation.
After a short silence:
Let us pray to the Lord: Lord, in your mercy.
All hear our prayer.
We pray for those caught up in war, violence, and hatred everywhere
but especially between Israel and the Palestinians,
we are sad for the innocent victims of these evils and we seek your help…..
We also remember our brothers and sisters suffering the tragic coronavirus pandemic all over the world, especially in India, that they may find help, that the grieving families all over the world may draw comfort and care from loved ones and from local and international solidarity,
After a short silence:
Let us pray to the Lord: Lord, in your mercy.
All hear our prayer.
Be with us all, Lord: in all our daily struggles as we seek to follow you.
Be with us all, Lord: in our periods of doubt and despair;
and in our times of happiness, health and loving.
Be with us all, Lord: until that time you will return and
when in your in your Kingdom of Love our joy will know no end
After a short silence:
Let us pray to the Lord: Lord, in your mercy.
All hear our prayer.
We now pray for your blessing and your healing grace for those who have requested our prayers, especially Diana Scammell, Mel Deacon, Don Whyles, Chris Howard, Chris Kenny, Matt, Sophie, Lisa Smith, Margaret, Christina, Jennifer, David Keene and others we know of.
After a short silence:
Let us pray to the Lord: Lord, in your mercy.
All hear our prayer.
We also pray for those whose hearts have been saddened by the death of someone dear to them and for those whose anniversary we recall.
After a short silence:
Let us pray to the Lord: Lord, in your mercy.
All hear our prayer.
Holy God, we thank you for the fellowship of our Sprngline Parish and we thank you for our families, our friends and our neighbours. We pray that as our restrictions on meeting together are lifted, we will continue to be careful and loving to the most venerable, and respect all who are not ready yet to get out and about. Help us to enjoy our greater freedoms in safety.
After a short silence:
Let us pray to the Lord: Lord, in your mercy.
All hear our prayer.
And, finally, we now pray for what is of immediate and urgent concern in our hearts for our lives and for our dear ones, trusting fully in the provident care of Jesus for us.
A long pause …
Let us pray to the Lord: Lord, in your mercy.
All hear our prayer.
After a silent, longer pause…
Father,
we feel loved,
we feel forgiven,
we feel saved.
Thank you for Jesus Christ your Son
who died for us on the cross
and rose again from the dead
and who offers us
true peace and true hope.
Help us to hold on to him
and to follow him
the way, the truth and the life
as we entrust you our prayers
in the name of your Son Jesus Christ.
Amen.
