Intercessions For 3rd Sunday of Easter – 18th April 2021
Jesus is alive.
Love has won the victory over evil and death.
Prayer is at the heart of our Christian life. The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, has said: “If we want to see things changed, it starts with prayer. It starts with a new spirit of prayer, using all the traditions, ancient and modern. It comes from Christians seeking Christ.”
Let us pray:
Christ is Risen and the power of His resurrection fills the world today with new life and hope and so we bring him all our prayers.
Creator God, you gave us a beautiful world to live in and to care for. We know that in many areas we have failed to protect our planet but through the victory of Jesus Christ, we know also that you can restore all things in glory; and so we pray for a change of heart and attitude, an awakening to a better way of living, and the courage to reject wrong principles. We especially pray for those suffering from the economic impact of the Coronavirus here in our country.
After a short silence: Let us pray to the Lord: Lord, in your mercy.
All hear our prayer.
Father God at this joyful Eastertide we pray for our village churches communities in our Springline Parish. We seek your grace and blessing to share with others the joy and hope in the resurrection of your Son Jesus Christ, that we may use our individual talents enabling each church group to flourish as a witness to the “One Body” of the church. Help us to spread the joy of your love to everyone we meet.
Risen and loving Jesus, we pray for those who do not share our Easter joy especially those living in the shadow of darkness and despair and for those whose illness narrows their view of the world.
After a short silence: Let us pray to the Lord: Lord, in your mercy.
All hear our prayer.
Creator Loving God we pray for those who are ill and in need of healing. We pray for all those within our Parish and our friends elsewhere who have requested for our prayers, especially Audrey, Diana, Mel, Don, Chris K, Chris H., Anna Rita, Margaret, Christina, David Keene and others we know of.
We also pray for the broken-hearted and for the lonely that your very presence would comfort them in their time of need and give thanks for all who work in the health services.
After a short silence: Let us pray to the Lord: Lord, in your mercy.
All hear our prayer.
Merciful God, we also pray for those whose hearts have been saddened by the death of someone close and dear to them, for members of our families who have died and whose anniversary we recall. We remember especially the family of Jennifer Ann Sutton of Fillingham and Rita Margaret Norden of North Carlton who passed away recently. We pray for eternal rest for Jenny and Rita and for the grieving families. Help us to experience the comfort of the Holy Spirit within us, and the fellowship of the church family around us until we are reunited once more in your heavenly kingdom.
Faithful God, whose wisdom is beyond our understanding, surround the Queen and the Royal Family with your love, that they may not be overwhelmed by their loss, but have confidence in your goodness and strength to meet the days to come.
After a short silence: Let us pray to the Lord: Lord, in your mercy.
All hear our prayer.
And finally we pray for ourselves … and we bring before you the immediate concerns of our hearts and our families … trusting in your provident care for us in Jesus.
After a silent, longer pause…
Father,
we feel loved,
we feel forgiven,
we feel saved.
Thank you for Jesus Christ your Son
who died for us on the cross
and rose again from the dead
and who offers us
true peace and true hope.
Help us to hold on to him
and to follow him
the way, the truth and the life
as we entrust you our prayers
in the name of your Son Jesus Christ.
Amen.
