A Pastoral Letter from the Parish Priest – 21st March 2021
My dearest Friends in the Lord,

Happy Spring!  I am reminded of one of my favourite English Romantic poets William Wordsworth’s famous poem “The Daffodils”.

Daffodils at Ullswater

The picture is of daffodils at Ullswater. In 1802 William and Dorothy Wordsworth’s visited Glencoyne Park. On 15th April 1802, they passed the strip of land at Glencoyne Bay, called Ullswater. It is this visit that gave Wordsworth the inspiration to write this famous poem. The first stanza of this much loved poem is given below:

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o’er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Hope you can read the full poem some time during this season. If you do not have a poetry book, you can always browse on the web and read it there.

Resourcing a Sustainable Church Meeting 17th March 2021

As part of the process of planning for a sustainable Church in our diocese for the future, representatives from the West Lindsey district area of the diocese held a zoom meeting on Wednesday 17th March. The topics discussed were:

  • Proposals for ministerial deployment
  • Proposals for Parish Share
  • Proposals for Growth
  • Proposals for Costs and
  • Proposals for Assets

Taken together, the proposals that will go to Synod set a vision for the collaborative church which we believe we must now become, in order to flourish as the Diocese of Lincoln into the next five years and beyond. They are, however, still work in progress, and can still be changed and refined. Therefore, please talk about them, pray about them, and if you choose, please write to us about them at: rsc@lincoln.anglicn.org or write to: Resourcing Sustainable Church, Edward King House, Minster Yard, Lincoln, LN2 1PU.

Do help us to help you where we can!

I wish you God’s blessings as you live Lent as our 40-day journey of return to God!

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you now and always.

With my love and prayer to each one of you,
