Intercessions For 6th Sunday of Easter – 9th May 2021
Jesus is alive.
Love has won the victory over evil and death.
Prayer is at the heart of our Christian life. The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, has said: “If we want to see things changed, it starts with prayer. It starts with a new spirit of prayer, using all the traditions, ancient and modern. It comes from Christians seeking Christ.”
Let us pray:
Christ is Risen and the power of His resurrection fills the world today with new life and hope. As we bring our prayers to the Lord let us give thanks to the Lord whose love has no end.
That the Church in this country may rediscover her origins in the Holy Spirit, that the Queen as governor of the Church and head of the government may be blessed by God’s Holy Spirit,

That God may help the leaders of the Churches especially our archbishops Justin and Stephen, our diocesan Bishop Christopher and suffragan bishops David and Nicholas, the Assistant Bishops and all the priests, deacons, readers and authorised lay ministers,

That we and all believers everywhere may have life and have it to the full through the power of Jesus, that we may support one another and care for each other as we follow Jesus Christ day in and day out, that those who doubt may be convinced by our strong faith as Christians, that any divisions in our communities may be overcome, that those in need may experience friendship and practical care,

That our brothers and sisters in the grips of the tragic coronavirus pandemic all over the world, especially in India experiencing a disastrous spike in infections and deaths, may find succour and help, that the grieving families all over the world may draw comfort and care from loved ones and from local and international solidarity,

Creator Loving God we pray for healing and grace for those among us and our friends who have requested our prayers, especially Audrey, Diana Scammell, Mel Deacon, Don Whyles, Chris Howard, Margaret, Christina, David Keene and others we know of.

Merciful God, we also pray for those whose hearts have been saddened by the death of someone dear to them and for those whose anniversary we recall. We remember especially the family of Jennifer Ann Sutton of Fillingham and Rita Margaret Norden of North Carlton who passed away recently.

And, finally, we now pray for what is of immediate and urgent concern in our hearts for our lives and for our dear ones … trusting fully in the provident care of Jesus for us.

Father,
we feel loved,
we feel forgiven,
we feel saved.
Thank you for Jesus Christ your Son
who died for us on the cross
and rose again from the dead
and who offers us
true peace and true hope.
Help us to hold on to him
and to follow him
the way, the truth and the life
as we entrust you our prayers
in the name of your Son Jesus Christ.
