Some Prayers/Intercessions for the Fifteenth Sunday after Trinity
Let us thank God that our churches are gradually reopening for worship.
You might like to use these intercessions at home during the week.
“Prayer is a plant, the seed of which is sown in the heart of every Christian.
If it is well cultivated and nourished it will produce fruit, but if it is neglected,
it will wither and die.”
Jesus is alive.
Love has won the victory over evil and death.
Let us pray.
Gathered together as a family in Christ, we humbly bring our prayers to the Father, trusting in His love and in the name of his son Our Lord Jesus Christ: (short pause for silent prayer)
Lord, in your Mercy: Hear our Prayer
We pray for those affected by the coronavirus …
Merciful God, we pray for the many people who have contracted the coronavirus in various parts of the world. Bring comfort to those grieving loved ones have died and peace to those worried, fearful and uncertain as the virus spreads. We also pray for governments and authorities who are developing strategies to contain and deal with the virus and those in the health services who may be risking their own lives to care for sick patients.
Help us all to be responsible in the things that we do in our lives to prevent the spread of the virus by taking heed of the recommended precautions and avoiding situations which may make things worse. (short pause for silent prayer)
Lord, in your Mercy: Hear our Prayer
We pray for the Church of Christ …
Loving heavenly Father, this morning we bring before you the Church spread throughout the world and the leaders of all denominations – Justin Welby, Stephen Cottrell, Vincent Nichols, Ernie Whalley , Ruth Gee, Ray Lowe, John and Eleanor Mumford and all others in national Church leadership.
We pray also for Father Sebastian our Vicar, the Churchwardens and the PCC members who lead our local Church and we pray Lord that as shepherds and pastors and public figures within your Church they may uphold your holy name and your holy Word in an increasingly secular world. (short pause for silent prayer)
Lord, in your Mercy: Hear our Prayer
We pray for the world …
Loving heavenly Father we bring before you the nations and peoples of the world. We think of migrants who are moving out of their countries in search for a better life; we think of our world struck down by the pandemic and all the problems it has caused; we pray for those affected by extreme weather conditions in different parts of the world especially in Los Angeles and Oregon states in the US, especially those who suffer more than blown down fence or a damaged railway track but have to endure the real hardship of ruined crops and destroyed homes. Lord we pray for your help, compassion, healing and blessing.

We pray for our country …
Gracious God we bring before you all those who have political authority within our land. We ask that they will govern with compassion for the needy and the poor and lead with honesty, integrity and justly. (short pause for silent prayer)

We pray for our local community …
Father we pray for those involved in volunteering their time to serve others especially in Lincolnshire. We thank-you that they are willing to give up their time to make our communities a better place. We also bring before you those who work with those in their senior years. We pray that they will be blessed with patience and kindness as they care for those who have given so much to rebuild a nation after its darkest hour in the past.

Lord, in your Mercy: Hear our Prayer
We pray for our Parish …
Lord, we pray you to bless us as a Church and to bless our plans to reach out into the community through caring and supportive ways especially at these strangest of times.. As we celebrate in The Eucharist is the sacrifice of Christ on the cross and his resurrection from the dead may those who are in despair and a sense of loss find you and discover the joy of following you as their Lord and saviour. May our Parish churches be beacons of hope and holiness in our community.
We pray for those who have requested our prayer (read the names in the prayer list…) and for those who have died (name persons you know…)

We pray for ourselves …
Let us now pause a moment, become aware of our breathing, relax in the presence of the Lord and humbly tell him what is deepest in our hearts for he knows us, loves us and forgives us. (after a silent, slightly longer pause …)
Father, we feel loved, we feel forgiven, we feel saved.
Thank you for Jesus Christ your Son who died for us on the cross
and rose again from the dead and who offers us true peace and true hope.
Help us to hold on to him and to follow him the way, the truth and the life
as we entrust you our prayers in the name of your Son Jesus Christ.
