A Pastoral Letter from the Parish Priest – Summer 2021 Tenth Sunday after Trinity – 8th August ‘21
My dearest Friends in the Lord,

This Monday, the 30th of August 2021, is an official Bank Holiday in the United Kingdom. I would like to wish you all a Happy Summer Bank Holiday! The weather isn’t great but we still can make the best use of this special day! I also wish families and children all the best in the last week of the school holidays!

Let me just recap some of the news I had shared with you last week.

Sunday 29th August 10.30 am: United Parish Communion at Fillingham

We will gather together as a Parish to celebrate our unity in faith and love. Mr Peter Atkinson from the Methodist Church at Glentham will preach at the service and we will sing/listen to a few of our favourite hymns. Please come along to join us in this celebration service of fellowship and communion.

Resourcing Sustainable Church: A Time to Change Together.

Fr Richard Crossland, Rural Dean, outlined future plans for our churches and for worship across Lincolnshire when he met a good group of people at St Cuthbert’s Church Brattleby on 26th August 7pm. Changes are coming and the Church, like all groups or organisations, need to get our act together financially. But that is also an opportunity for a new vision for mission and ministry to our people in Lincolnshire, namely to share the saving ‘Good News’ of Jesus with our people. We are grateful to the local church that hosted the event.

Springline Parish Healing Service on Sunday 5th September at 4pm at St John the Baptist Church South Carlton.

This is a service of ministry of prayer, laying on of hands and anointing. Please join in or bring along a friend or dear one who needs a special prayer. Slowly churches and groups are picking up the pieces since the lockdown has been lifted. But the number of infections have not decreased. Today, as I write, 38046 cases have been reported and 100 deaths. Permit me to to advise you who read this letter to take care of yourself and to take care of your dear ones and friends, wearing masks where necessary and being responsible so that we can overcome this pandemic once and for all!

A Prayer for blessings on the diocesan restructuring plans

Almighty God, source of our hope and all good things;
you call us in love to share in the work of creation in making all things new.
Bless our diocese: may we be faithful in our worship;
confident in our discipleship; and joyful in our service;
that, through us, the world may catch a glimpse of the love you have for each one of us,
made known to us in your son, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

A prayer for our Parish and Church

Abba Father, purify my Parish Community in the precious blood of Jesus
and fill my Church and Parish with your Holy Spirit. Amen.
