A Pastoral Letter from the Parish Priest

The Coronavirus Pandemic & Its Effects On Our Lives

A Pastoral Letter from the Parish Priest

Letter 18 – 12 July 2020

Fifth Sunday after Trinity

My dearest Friends in the Lord,

Here I am again with my weekly Pastoral Letter since the lockdown as we continue to Stay Alert, Control the Virus and Save Lives!

New information is coming in daily about the extent of the rate at which coronavirus pandemic has taken the world by storm. Definitely, we are worried and wonder how all this will end! However, we believe that throughout history, the human spirit has always and staunchly risen up to the trials and tragedies of plagues, wars and oppression and overcome them. We shall overcome Covid-19! Together, with God!

Church Services

Since last week, we have had two church services in the Springline churches, at Scampton and at Ingham. These are weekly services and are great opportunities for you to join in especially because the churches had been closed since 4 months!

Life Events – Weddings, Baptisms, Funerals

The churches can now be open for life events like weddings, baptisms and funerals with a limited number of people and following all the distancing and hygiene norms and with an adequate risk assessment of the building.

Our village churches

Our village churches are taking very seriously the government norms before opening them to the public so as to safeguard health, protect and save lives. The following churches have re-opened: Burton by appointment with the Churchwardens, South Carlton daily from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm, Scampton daily from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm, Cammeringham by appointment with the Churchwardens, Ingham every Wednesday at 10.30 am for Holy Eucharist.

It will be A SHORT LIVE EUCHARIST ON ‘ZOOM’ AT 10.30 am led by Father Sebastian from the vicarage study in Ingham. The service will include also a story of personal vocation by Revd Sue Deacon, among the usual features.

You will have received an invitation to join the service if you are in the Parish database. If you are not in the Parish database and wish to join in the service, please contact your local Churchwarden before Sunday morning.

Springline Parish on-line Home Worship resources for all

Please note that there are resources for children and families as well as general resources for prayer and worship that you can use during this lockdown period. Please visit our online Church page.

A word on Giving to God during the lockdown

During the lockdown due to Covid-19, our churches in the Springline Parish had been closed and, among other things, regular or retiring collections in churches also ceased.  We have therefore designed a new webpage to help people give online. Please visit our giving page giving.springlineparish.co.uk  if you would like to make a donation to promote God’s work through the Church’s mission and ministry in our village communities.

A Prayer

The collect for this Sunday is given below and please know that we will be holding you in our prayers.
Almighty and everlasting God,
by whose Spirit the whole body of the Church
is governed and sanctified:
hear our prayer which we offer for all your faithful people,
that in their vocation and ministry
they may serve you in holiness and truth
to the glory of your name;
through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.

We are still Church – Springline Parish – 9 Churches, 1 Parish, Following Jesus!

As we are doing our best to reopen our village churches and some of our church buildings might still be closed due to safety and hygiene norms, we are still Church. We want to love God with all our hearts, soul, mind and strength, and to love our neighbour as ourselves. We will continue to do this. As Jesus exhorts us, we want to be people of Faith, not Fear. We will do all we can to reach out and help!

Please take care and do stay safe!

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all now and always.

With my love, prayer and blessing to each one of you,
Father Sebastian
