A Pastoral Letter from the Parish Priest – 23rd May 2021
Pentecost Sunday
My dearest Friends in the Lord,
I hope you are all well and enjoying greater levels of freedom to normality as more restrictions have been lifted. As we look forward to the complete lifting of restrictions, we also want to take care and keep safe in the context of the new Indian variant of the covid 19 that has been noticed in several regions in the country.
We celebrate ‘Pentecost’ on this Sunday. Another incredible, historical event that took place forty or so days after the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesus died, rose from the dead, ascended into heaven and sent us His Holy Spirit to be with us till the end of time. He had assured us: “I am with you always even unto the end of time.”
The disciples who were distressed and distraught were filled with the Spirit of God as they were gathered together in prayer. Tongues of flame appeared over their heads and they experienced a spiritual infilling of grace and power in their hearts and souls. Their lives took a dramatic turn, and the rest is history.
We are the fruits of that supernatural event that equipped and empowered those twelve humble men and women to spread the ‘God News’ of Jesus to the far corners of the world. Pentecost is the Birthday of the Church – that is ‘Church’ as the People of God who follow Jesus Christ, the ‘Light of the world’ and ‘the way, the truth and the life’. So Happy Pentecost to you! May the Holy Spirit fill you to the brim with his gifts of faith, hope and love.

Let us pray for a resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian crisis
We all have a connection with the Holy Land where Jesus was born, lived, died and rose again. It is very disheartening to see so much blood shed, especially of innocents. Let us pray God to grant peace, security and stability in the Holy Land to the satisfaction and dignity of all concerned.
